Redwood events: Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center provides art therapy class; Donuts for Dad


The Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center will provide an Art Therapy Class at Redwood, starting today.

Adult clients will participate from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and children from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Redwood is a nonprofit, special needs facility located in Northern Kentucky, and services some 800 clients from six weeks to 82 years of age.

“Some of our children in our preschool will explore their creativity in the class,” said Carol Serrone, Redwood’s Director of Philanthropy.. “The Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center will provide the instructor.”

The Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center is named for Margaretta Hunt, who established the Baker Hunt Foundation in spring of 1922, to encourage the study of art, education and science and to promote the good works of religion in Covington, Kentucky.

The present-day Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center campus includes the Baker Hunt Mansion and Family Museum, the Kate Scudder House and the Auditorium and Studio.

The Baker Hunt mission is to provide professional art instruction in a compelling learning environment for the enrichment of studies in the Arts and Humanities.

Children will participate in acrylic, oil and watercolor painting, pastels, drawing, manga drawing, cartooning, digital, clay, pottery, mosaics, quilting/fabric art, tai chi, social dancing and yoga.

Redwood hosts Donuts for Dad

Father’s Day will be celebrated a bit earlier at Redwood according to Katrina Proud, the facility’s Director, Children’s Services.

Redwood will host Donuts for Dad, Thursday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., at the Northern Kentucky facility.

“Donuts for Dad will be for all our infants, toddlers and pre-school clients,” Proud said. “It’s a wonderful bonding experience for all – and a great way to celebrate Father’s Day early.”

Donuts for Dad will feature clients ranging from six weeks to six years of age.

Redwood guides children and adults with severe and multiple disabilities to achieve independence and reach their highest potential throughout their lives by providing enriching educational, therapeutic, and vocational services.
