NKU signs Hillcrest Prep standout John Harge for 2019-20 campaign; averaged 19.9 points last season

Northern Kentucky University head coach Darrin Horn announced that forward John Harge has signed to join the Norse men’s basketball team for the 2019-20 season.

“John brings much needed size to our program, but what is most exciting is his upside,” said Horn. “We think he is a steal because of his outstanding feel and versatility. He comes from a basketball family and understands what it takes to compete at this level.”

John Harge

A native of Aurora, Colorado, the 6-foot-8 Harge played last season for Hillcrest Prep in Arizona, averaging 19.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. He converted 48 percent from the floor, including 41 percent from 3-point range.

With Harge patrolling the hardwood, Hillcrest Prep posted a 29-7 record.

Harge is the second player to sign with NKU under Horn’s guidance, joining Adham Eleeda, who committed to the Norse earlier this week. A 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Sheridan College in Wyoming, Eleeda averaged 13.3 points last season. He also made 78 percent of his attempts at the charity stripe.

NKU posted a 26-9 record this past season and captured the Horizon League championship. The Norse advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years and lost to eventual national runner-up Texas Tech in the first round.
