Hoerlein steps down from Fort Wright City Council; letters of interest being accepted to fill seat


The Fort Wright City Council met Monday evening during a special meeting and accepted the resignation of Councilman Mike Hoerlein.

First and foremost, Councilman Hoerlein was an essential part of the Fort Wright City Council for several years and a great advocate and asset to the community and the organization overall.

The City commends him wholeheartedly for his contributions.

Additionally, City Council took steps towards filling the vacancy as a result of the resignation, It is now actively seeking individuals who are interested in serving on City Council the remainder of former Councilman Hoerlein’s unexpired term of office, which ends on December 31, 2020.

In accordance with Kentucky law, the City is accepting letters of interest from residents who wish to serve the community as a member of Council.

If you have been a resident of Fort Wright for more than one year, are qualified to vote in Kentucky, are over the age of 18, intend to remain as a resident of the city through 2020 and have a desire to serve the community – consider submitting a letter of interest for this appointment. Letters of interest may be submitted to the attention of the City Administrator, Jill Cain Bailey, in any of the following manners:

·         Via E-mail to jcbailey@fortwright.com

·         Via U.S. Mail to 409 Kyles Lane, Ft. Wright, KY 41011

·         In person at the City Building between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Letters of interest must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, to be considered for this opportunity.

Once all letters are received they will be reviewed and all candidates who meet the minimum requirements established by law will be interviewed by members of City Council.

It is anticipated that these interviews will be conducted during the week immediately following the close of submissions. Please ensure that letters of interest include current contact information so that candidates can be reached to schedule an interview.
