The greatest two minutes in sports is an all-day party at Turfway Park on Saturday, May 4.

The Northern Kentucky racetrack will host its annual Kentucky Derby simulcast and Party in the Paddock, which includes a free concert by popular local rockers DV8.

The Party in the Paddock begins at noon and continues to 8 p.m., with DV8 taking the stage at 2:30 p.m. Admission and parking free, and valet parking is available for $3.

Buffet reservations in the Homestretch restaurant, an enclosed, non-smoking venue located on the first floor, are available at $50 per person. Reserved seating is also available for $25 in the individual handicapping stations of Players’ Row.

Reservations may be made by calling (859) 371-0200.

No Kentucky Derby party is complete without a hat contest, and adults can vie for prizes in two categories: traditional and creative/thematic. Judging will begin at 5 p.m. A third category is reserved for children 12 years old and under, with goodie bags for all kids who enter.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Wagering windows open at 10 a.m., 30 minutes before the first race from Churchill Downs. Post time for the Kentucky Derby is at 6:50 p.m.

Doors and windows also open at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively, on Friday, May 3, when Churchill Downs presents the Kentucky Oaks. Post time for the Oaks, the filly counterpart to the Derby, is at 6:12 p.m.

Turfway will accept advance wagers on Churchill Downs’s full Friday and Saturday cards beginning Thursday, May 2.
