Three Thomas More softball players earn first team All-Central Region honors from the NFCA

A trio of Thomas More University softball players have been named first team All-Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Senior pitcher Alix DeDreu, junior first baseman Andrea Gahan and senior utility player Mary Beth Odom were all honored by the NFCA’s NCAA Division III selections. In the circle this season, DeDreu posted a 21-6 record this season with a 1.39 earned run average and 189 strikeouts. Her strikeouts are a Thomas More single-season record while her 21 wins are No. 2 in program history.

At the plate, DeDreu set the school’s single-season record for hits with 77, doubles with 26 and batting average with a .490 average. DeDreu is graduating with the Thomas More career record in hits (254), at-bats (607), doubles (61), runs batted in (149), wins (67), strikeouts (527) and ERA (1.73).

Gahan batted .439 with 14 home runs, 14 doubles, 53 RBI and 46 runs scored.  Her runs scored and RBI are tied for second in Thomas More single-season record book, and her home runs are tied for third.

Gahan is ranked in the top five in four Thomas More career categories as she is tied for second in home runs (38), tied for third in RBI (42), fourth in both doubles (44) and home runs (five).

Odom played shortstop, second base and outfield this season as she batted .410 with 48 hits, nine doubles, 15 home runs, 43 RBI and 45 runs scored. Her home runs are tied for second in Thomas More’s single-season records and her runs batted in rank fifth.

Odom graduates ranked in the top five in two Thomas More career statistical categories as she is tied for second with home runs (38) and fourth in RBI (125).

Thomas More concluded the season with a 34-11 record as it won the American Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament championship. The Saints also finished as NCAA Division III regional finalists.
