Thomas More softball team (29-9 record) moves up to No. 16 nationally in NFCA/NCAA Division III poll

The Thomas More University softball team (29-9 this season) has moved up to No. 16 in this week’s National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll.

The Saints, who are riding a four-game winning streak, are ranked in the top 25 nationally in six statistical categories in NCAA Division III. They are ranked No. 6 in home runs per game (1.03), eighth in slugging percentage (.554), 13th in batting average (.358) and in on-base percentage (.432), 19th in doubles per game (2.03) and 23rd in scoring (6.95 runs per game).

Senior Alix DeDreu is ranked in seven individual statistical categories.  At the plate, she is second nationally in doubles (21), fifth in hits (65) and sixth in doubles per game (.55). In the circle, DeDreu is eighth in strikeouts-to-walk ratio (9.25), 15th in strikeouts (148), 23rd in strikeouts per seven innings (8.4) and in victories (23).

Senior shortstop/outfielder Mary Beth Odom is ranked in the Top-25 individually in five statistical categories. She is fourth in home runs per game (.39), home runs (15) and slugging percentage (.980), 18th in on-base percentage (.562) and 19th in total bases (99).

Junior first baseman Andrea Gahan is ranked nationally in five statistical categories.  She is ranked 19th in home runs (11), 20th in runs batted-in (46), 23rd in total bases (98) and 25th in slugging percentage (.838) and runs batted in per game (1.21).

Thomas More returns to the diamond this weekend at the American College Athletic Association Tournament in Alfred, New York. The top-seeded Saints open the tournament against fourth-seeded SUNY-Delhi at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
