The 1975, Girl Talk and Run the Jewels lead jam-packed Day 3 lineup at Bunbury Music Festival

The 1975, Girl Talk and Run the Jewels are among the highly anticipated headliners rounding out Day 3 of the 2019 Bunbury Music Festival.

The Festival returns to downtown Cincinnati’s Sawyer Point and Yeatman’s Cove this weekend, May 31-June 2, transforming the banks of the Ohio River into a vibrant festival experience. Single day tickets start at $79 and are on sale now. Three-day, VIP and Ultimate VIP tickets are also available now.

When The 1975 (lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matthew “Matty” Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer George Daniel) first emerged in 2012 with the Facedown EP, their sound was unashamedly glamorous and their music brazenly diverse.

In 2016, The 1975 released their sophomore full-length album I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It, featuring the singles “Love Me” and “The Sound.” The album debuted at No. 1 in the U.K. and U.S., and was followed by the band’s third studio album A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships in 2018.

Girl Talk (aka Pittsburgh’s Gregg Gillis) has been constructing meticulous sample-based music since 2000.

His early work was known for its raw experimental nature, but by the release of his 2006 album, Night Ripper, that style evolved into genre-smashing, breakneck-paced party jams.

Night Ripper consisted of over 300 songs, from wildly disparate Top 40 genres and eras, mashed up and layered together into one cohesive collage. It received critical acclaim, and the attention resulted in a rapidly growing fan base.

Gillis ended up quitting his biomedical engineering day job one year later. Girl Talk continued to develop his signature style with the release of Feed the Animals in 2008 and All Day in 2010. Each album grew increasingly detailed and complex.

By 2014, Gillis began focusing on collaborative work, mainly doing the production and beats with rappers. That year, he released “Broken Ankles,” an EP with Freeway. This has been followed up by one-off songs with Wiz Khalifa, Erick The Architect (from Flatbush Zombies), Smoke DZA, and Don Q.

El-P and Killer Mike, two of the most distinctive and celebrated names in rap, might have seemed like an unlikely pairing on paper, but the duo subverted and pulverized all expectations with their critically lauded Run The Jewels collaborative LP.

Tapping into the creative synergy they’d discovered in 2012 on Mike’s R.A.P. Music album (produced by El-P) and El’s Cancer 4 Cure album (featuring Mike), Run The Jewels cemented their musical alliance with a set of uncompromisingly raw, forward thinking hip-hop, garnering limitless critical accolades including the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, XXL, SPIN, New York Times, and many more.

One of the country’s premier music festivals now celebrating its eighth year, Bunbury Music Festival has received critical acclaim from Billboard, USA Today, Pollstar and Yahoo! Music, and was named among the Top 16 Music Festivals by CNN Travel in 2017.
