Beechwood grad Brandt Coleman awarded major international scholarship for study in Germany


Fort Mitchell resident and a 2103 Beechwood alumnus Brandt Coleman has been awarded a major international scholarship.

Out of over 400 applicants, Coleman was selected for a Graduate Study Scholarship in the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) program. The award consists of a monthly stipend, air travel subsidy to Germany, funds to cover study-related travel and attendance in international science schools and supplemental programs during the program year along with health, accident and personal liability insurance coverage.

The award is worth an average of $18,000 per year in addition to the full graduate tuition scholarship at a German university.

Coleman will be part of a class of 20 students studying towards an MSc degree in environmental science at the Universität Bayreuth in Bavaria Germany in the Elite Network of Bavaria Program.

Coleman is a 2018 Summa Cum Laude and University Honors Scholar graduate of the University of Louisville with degrees in environmental analysis, marine biology (New College of Florida in Sarasota and the Universität of Rostock in Germany) and environmental anthropology through the Individualized Major program at U of L.

He is a previous U.S. State Department Fellow to Germany and will return to Germany for his graduate studies.
