SATURDAY, MARCH 30
Race 1
LIZZY’S LURE comes off two solid runner-up efforts and appears to be in a good spot to pick up the win tonight. BARRY’S SWING was second in his first race back after an eight-month layoff. He should improve and is the one to beat. PLAIN TALES is a definite contender.
Race 2
SUNDAY CLOTHES ran poorly in his first race back after a 14-month layoff. He has trained well since that one and Mike Maker figures to have him ready tonight. CAUSE TO ACTION drops to the bottom for his Turfway debut and definitely fits with this bunch. WINTER RAIN figures to make the lead from the inside post and could be tough to catch.
Race 3
RUN RUN was a beaten favorite last out but is capable of winning this one with Lezcano back aboard. BARRISTER JIM makes his third start back after a layoff and should improve. COURTS RULING is a contender.
Race 4
BROTHER CESARE has won two in a row for Cipriano Contreras, who has had an amazing meet, winning 13 races from just 25 starters. He is vying with Wes Ward for the training title and this is one of two solid contenders (with Dream Fever in the 8th) he has in this evening. TAKIN THE SLOROAD tries six furlongs for the first time in his 62-race career but he does like this track and will be running late in a race that figures to have a lively pace. BEACH HUT is a contender.
Race 5
CADILLAC KITTEN has been idle since an impressive maiden win back in December. His works haven’t been fast but he drops to the bottom and can win this one for the Ramseys and Maker. TIZABOUTTIME just missed when dropped in class last out and is the one to beat. BODHRAN stopped badly in his last two but could be dangerous if left alone on the front end.
Race 6
DHAFEERA has shown improvement in each of her three races over this track. She was an impressive winner last out and can make it two in a row with leading rider Luan Machado back aboard for Brett Santangelo. BELLA KRISTINA drops to the bottom and looks dangerous at this level. CAROLINA REAPER is a contender.
Race 7
SPEIGHT’S COMETE has been narrowly beaten as the favorite in her last two races but figures to finally get her maiden win tonight. FUNNY SONG is a well-bred runner in the capable hands of Ben Colebrook. She has been training well at Keeneland and is capable of running well in here. ELEGANT DE DOMINO has had some bullet works at the Training Center and has to be respected.
Race 8
The meet ends with an extremely tough starter allowance race. DREAM FEVER dropped in against bottom claimers to win her last race. She faces much better tonight but can cap an excellent meet for Contreras with a win in here. FUN SUCKER is good right now. She has won two in a row and can run well again at decent odds. RULELIKECLEOPATRA is always dangerous at Turfway.
