Kentucky Arts Council accepting entries for Governor’s Derby Exhibit through April 10

The Kentucky Arts Council is accepting artists’ submissions for the Governor’s Derby Exhibit. The application deadline is April 10.

The Governor’s Derby Exhibit, associated with the annual Governor’s Derby Celebration, is open to all Kentucky artists 18 years of age or older. This year’s exhibit theme is “We Are Kentucky.” Artwork submitted should reflect something – a person, a place, a memory, an experience – that has always made the artist proud to call the Bluegrass State home.

The exhibit will be on display in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort May 1-June 1.

“This exhibit is always full of pleasant surprises,” said Chris Cathers, arts council executive director. “We open it up to all Kentuckians to submit work that is indicative of their own Kentucky stories, and their work is truly reflective of life in the Commonwealth.”

All submissions must be original work by the artist, two-dimensional and ready to hang. The overall dimensions, including frame, should not exceed 36 inches in width.

The annual show is coordinated by the arts council on behalf of Gov. Matt Bevin and First Lady Glenna Bevin.

For more information or to submit work, visit the arts council’s website or contact Dave Blevins, arts marketing director, at david.blevins@ky.gov or 502-892-3120.
