High School students are invited to apply for the St. Elizabeth Healthcare MOON Program

St. Elizabeth Healthcare invites high school students interested in a career in the medical field to apply and participate in the 2019 MOON (Medical Observation Opportunity Network) program.

Created by St. Elizabeth Healthcare general surgeon Dr. Ryan Moon, the MOON program is a five-day opportunity to introduce teens to careers in the medical field through observation of a physician’s day-to-day life. The 2019 program will occur July 15-19.

The program specifically explores emergency and perioperative services as well as other specialty areas in healthcare. To be accepted, participants must meet the following criteria:

*High school students who are at least 16 years old

*Have reliable transportation during program hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

*Have permission from a parent or guardian

“This is an opportunity I have wanted to provide for the past decade,” says Dr. Moon. “I want to help young people develop and explore their passions. I am a big believer in the value of passion. If you love what you do, then you will be a better friend, co-worker, sibling, parent and spouse. If this program affects one person it will mean everything.”

Participation will be limited. Applications will be accepted through April 1 and participants will be selected by May 1. For more information and to apply, click here. Email moon.progam@stelizabeth.com or call (859) 301-9182 with any questions.
