Turfway Park selections for Saturday

Turfway Park provides expert picks to the Northern Kentucky Tribune during the live racing meets.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2:

Race 1

CRESCENT WARRIOR has been a runner-up at this level in his last two and appears to be in a good spot to get his maiden win tonight. PRIVATE GALAXY showed big improvement last out and figures to be the main competition. GO CHIVA GO is a contender.

Race 2

BEACH HUT overcame a poor start to win last out and can make it two in a row in what appears to be a well matched field. SHARM beat the top pick back in November and will be tough with McKee back aboard. SALTY RIM drops to the bottom and has the speed to be dangerous.

Race 3

GRAMMY’S LEGACY failed to hold on as the favorite last out but figures to be on or near the lead throughout and rates the edge with Franklin back aboard for Brian Waltz. DARINGLY BOLD drops a notch in class and looks like the one to beat. SLOWHAND is a solid threat.

Race 4

FEROCIOUS TIGER was beaten as the odds-on favorite last out but did beat several of these same runners in that one. A similar effort would make him a winner against this bunch. DREAMMEISTER closed well at big odds last out and can run well again tonight. SKIFFS BREWMEISTER drops back in class and fits in here.

Race 5

SNOW LEOPARD is a 9-year-old veteran with the speed to be in contention throughout. His best could make him a winner in a very tough starter allowance race. AMBIDEXTROUS ALEX comes off two straight scores for Don Combs and looks like the one to beat with Johnny McKee riding. BIRDS GONE WILD will be running at the end and is a definite threat.

Race 6

ALREADY GONE drops in class for Tom Drury off a decent fourth-place finish against better company. A repeat of that one makes her a winner with Malcolm Franklin back aboard. ARLANZA is back in for a tag tonight and looks like the main competition. CHERRY GANACHE debuts for Wes Ward, who is always tough with his first-timers.

Race 7

LESIA JANE comes off a solid third-place finish in her Turfway debut. She figures to get a good trip from the inside post and looks like a winner with Julie Burke back aboard. MAJESTIC KINDNESS was a beaten favorite last out but was an impressive winner back in December when she ran for a tag. She looks dangerous in this spot. TEMPESTUOUS AMY comes off two solid performances and can’t be dismissed.

Race 8

PROM THEME is a 10-year-old veteran making her 102nd career start. She has an excellent record here at Turfway and gets the nod for Doug Danner and Johnny McKee. SICCAR drops back to the bottom and her best makes her dangerous. HIGH LEGEND fits in here.
