Highlands cheerleader Lilliana Schalck visitation set for tomorrow 4-8 p.m.; funeral services to be private


Visitation will be held March 1 for Lilliana Schalck, 13, the Highlands High School cheerleader who died suddenly on February 23 while participating in a competition in Columbus, Ohio.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, 427 S. Ft. Thomas Ave., Ft. Thomas.

She cheered for Highlands High School Varsity Cheerleading and Premier Athletics.

The eighth-grader fell ill on Saturday, shortly before her team was ready to take the floor at the competition in Columbus. She was rushed to the emergency room at Children’s Nationwide Hospital where she died less than two hours later. An autopsy was performed to determine cause of death.

Lilliana is survived by her father, Danny Schalck, her mother, Kristy Schalch, a sister, Tiffany K. Schalck, and her grandmother, Carole Mollett.

A vigil was held Sunday night at the Highlands Middle School gym for grieving students, community and family. Fellow athletes wore blue hearts to honor Lilliana.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in the St. Stephen Cemetery Ft. Thomas.
