Applications for Center for Great Neighborhoods evening FreshLo Fellows class now open

The Center for Great Neighborhoods is now accepting applications for the next class of FreshLo Fellows.

The FreshLo Initiative, funded by The Kresge Foundation, is an effort to promote the use of fresh, local food as a platform for neighborhood revitalization within Covington’s Westside Neighborhood. Former FreshLo projects range from growing local produce and urban agriculture to educating neighborhood youth about health food choices and celebrating the neighborhood’s eclectic cultural cuisine.

What is the FreshLo Fellowship opportunity?

A seven-week project management opportunity for four Covington community members.

Classes will take place Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (6 hours/week). The fellowship pays $13/hr and will take place at The Center for Great Neighborhoods (321 W. MLK Blvd, Covington, KY).

The fellowship will start on March 12, 2019. The final week of the fellowship requires an event or activity for the community hosted by the FreshLo Fellows.

Fellows will have the opportunity to manage a collective budget of $800 to implement their event or activity.

The Center for Great Neighborhoods seeks enthusiastic candidates who have an interest in community and a desire to learn new skills.

Interested individuals should contact Kareem Simpson at The Center for Great Neighborhoods by Friday, February 22, 2019. Email kareem@greatneighborhoods.org or call 859.479.2064. Interviews will be held on March 4 and 5 from 6pm to 9pm.

The Center is a Covington community development organization that brings people together, encourages them to work with each other, and supports their efforts to shape the future of their community. It is committed to helping people discover and develop their skills, find and use the resources they need, and discover partners who share their concern for the well-being of Covington.
