Northern Kentucky University’s Student Anthropology Society collected warm clothes, blankets, toiletries and food as part of their Warm the Homeless drive.

They delivered donations to the Welcome House of Northern Kentucky on Jan. 19.
Anthropology students started gearing up for the collection by raising $500 in a Giving Tuesday Facebook fundraiser and an additional $100 through other fundraising efforts on campus. They had collection boxes in Landrum Hall and out in the community throughout December and January.
This is the second year students organized the Warm the Homeless drive. They served chili and provided warm clothing and hygiene products to more than 60 people experiencing homelessness at the Welcome House.
Snacks and warm clothes were also delivered to 30 people at the Emergency Cold Shelter in Covington.
“The Student Anthropology Society is a rather small group, but they’re very enthusiastic. Warm the Homeless is the brainchild of our previous club president, Andrea Shiverdecker, who was gracious enough to plan this year’s event even though she graduated in December,” said Denise Knisely, the club’s faculty advisor. “Next year, we would like to partner with some local businesses so that we can offer more to our neighbors in need.”
