NKU holding Winterfest to welcome students back to campus and to gear up for spring semester

Northern Kentucky University holds Winterfest to welcome students back to campus and to help them gear up for the spring semester.

The events began last night with the men’s basketball game against Wright State.

Students can also attend activities the first week of class, such as ice skating on the plaza, a watch party for the Cleveland State game and SOTA faculty shows.

Winterfest concludes on Jan. 21 with NKU’s Annual Day of Service to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Office of Student Engagement holds Winterfest each year at the start of the spring semester.

“We know it’s not easy to get back into the school routine after the break,” said Dan Nadler, vice president for Student Affairs. “Winterfest is a way to build excitement and get students together. It also shows our new and transfer students how much there is to do around campus, even in January.”

New this year, the first 100 students can stop by the Student Union on Jan. 14 to get lunch for $2 that includes pizza, chips and a drink. The university’s food pantry, Fuel NKU, will get half the funds from each meal purchased.

Students are also encouraged to check out the MyEngagement portal on nku.edu to learn more about campus organizations. For more information about Winterfest, click here.
