Karralea List to receive the Spirit of Achievement Award at Women’s Initiative breakfast Jan. 15

Karralea List has been selected as the recipient of the sixth annual Debbie Simpson Spirit of Achievement Award, presented by C-Forward.

The award, which will be presented at the Northern Kentucky Chamber Women’s Initiative 10th Annual Breakfast, sponsored by PNC on Tuesday, January 15, honors women involved in the Northern Kentucky Chamber Women’s Initiative (WI) program who have demonstrated professional leadership and community involvement.

“As I was looking over Karralea’s nominations, I was struck by how her many nominators described her: Devoted. Entrepreneurial. Groundbreaker (no pun intended). Friendly. Welcoming. Dedicated. Organized. Energetic. Enthusiastic,” said Linda Schilling, General Manager Valley View Furnished Condos and WI Golf Committee Chair.

“Karralea used every one of these outstanding characteristics when she turned the WI CONNECT Hour into a highly attended monthly event where women began forging and solidifying meaningful business relationships that make a difference in our community. She is the Women’s Initiative’s biggest cheerleader, and shares her passion for our mission every chance she gets.”

List, President of the Décor Group of NKY, launched her landscaping business in 1999. Today it is one of the top landscaping companies in the region. In addition to running her own business, List is the CONNECT Hour Immediate Past Chair and serves on the Annual Breakfast committee.
“When I went to my first Women’s Initiative CONNECT Hour I didn’t know how to network and talk about myself and my business. Eventually, I joined the committee and became more comfortable,” said List. “Getting involved helped me grow personally as well as professionally. The more I volunteered, the more I discovered and met so many amazing people that were involved in the Chamber and the Women’s Initiative.”

In 2018, the Spirit of Achievement Award was renamed to honor Debbie Simpson, retired President of Multi-Craft Litho, Inc., and co-founder of the Women’s Initiative.

“Debbie has been a major part of the Women’s Initiative since the beginning,” said Gina Bath, Vice President of the Women’s Initiative. “She was a driving force for starting the program, has been heavily engaged for the past decade, and is an advocate for women and professional development. We’re lucky to have her support, and are honored to recognize her in this way.”

The Women’s Initiative 10th Annual Breakfast will take place on Tuesday, January 15 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center (1 Rivercenter Blvd., Covington). The event will feature a keynote address from Heather Howell, Director of New Product Development at Brown-Forman Corporation. Howell will speak about how people within your teams influence you in negative and positive ways, and how to evaluate life and those you select to be in it.

Tickets to the Women’s Initiative 10th Annual Breakfast, sponsored by PNC are $50 for NKY Chamber members and $75 for future NKY Chamber members. Tables are also available, $500 for NKY Chamber members and $750 for future NKY Chamber members. Reservations for the breakfast are required.
