Rotary Club of Florence, Steinford Toy Foundation ‘wrapping up’ annual holiday season toy drive

The Rotary Club of Florence and Steinford Toy Foundation will be “Wrapping Up” a successful toy drive for the 2018 Holiday Season ending on Monday, December 10th.

Donations of unwrapped new or gently used toys are being received at the locations listed below. Donations will be accepted through the weekend and up until noon on Monday, December 10th at the Hilton Cincinnati Airport located on Turfway Road.

“We are so fortunate to live in such a generous community” states project Rotary Club of Florence Chairperson Roger Babik of Master Provisions. “The response this year from businesses and organizations to serve as collection sites has reach over 70 locations and the generosity of our community has grown each year.”

During the Great Depression, a Northern Kentucky couple, Rose and George Steinford, witnessed many needy children in their neighborhood who were not experiencing the joys of Christmas. Rose and George, who had no children of their own, assumed the roles of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus by purchasing, repairing and distributing used toys to these children.

Today, that tradition is continued through the Steinford Toy Foundation, founded in 1973, and the Foundation’s volunteers that collect and distribute the toys. Last year over 4,000 children in Northern Kentucky were served, up from over 3,000 the previous two years.

The Rotary Club of Florence and Steinford Toy Foundation would like to thank Master Provisions and Paul Feuss of All-State Signs and Printing for their generous support of time and talent for this worthwhile cause.

Please visit the Steinford Toy Foundation’s website or the organization’s Facebook page to learn about the program, refer a family, become a Steinford Elf, host a company toy drive or volunteer. The Steinford Toy Foundation is a completely volunteer-driven organization.
