Police release identity of man found dead on Sleepy Hollow Road Friday; investigating it as a homicide

Covington police have released the identity of a man found dead on Sleepy Hollow Road Friday and are now investigating the incident as a homicide.

The man has been identified as 32-year-old Eric Hughes, of Covington.

Police responded to the scene at Sleepy Hollow Road and Montague Road, near Devou Park, shortly after 8 a.m., Friday.

A passing motorist spotted body on the side of the road and notified police. 

Initially, the death was reported as “suspicious,” but in a statement released Monday, Covington Police say it is being investigated as a homicide.

No further details are available at this time.

Covington Police released the following statement regarding the incident:

On December 14, at around 0820 AM, the Covington Police responded to Sleepy Hollow Road at Montague Road for a report of a non-responsive person on the side of Sleepy Hollow Road. Upon arrival they discovered the victim deceased. 

This case is considered a homicide, is under active investigation and there are no other details that will be released at this time. 

The victim is identified as: Eric L. Hughes of Covington 32 Years Old
