Chef Willocks celebrates Baker’s Table grand opening in Newport, vows to ‘Feed People with Love’

The Baker’s Table Ribbon celebrated its ribbon-cutting this week as owner Dave Willocks brings his Head Chef talents to his new restaurant in Newport.

Chef Willocks has been providing catering services and private home party events via the Kick Start Kitchen in Covington. Based on the compliments from clients, he pursued a brick and mortar building to expand his services.

The restaurant is located at 1004 Monmouth Street in Newport.

Dave Willocks, owner and wife Wendy Braun with daughter Willow cut the ribbon to open his new restaurant.  Also in photo: Mayor Jerry Peluso, Fire/EMS Chief Bill Darin, and Newport Commissioner Ken Rechtin, along with Dave’s parents, staff and other Newport residents and business associates.

Willocks worked in the San Francisco Bay area at an Indian restaurant and has brought his French and Italian experiences to Newport, evidenced by his sourdough bread and pasta items.

The theme of his restaurant is “Feed People With Love.”

The Baker’s Table offers Seasonal Rustic Cuisine based on what’s in season. To complement his cuisine he includes specialty coffees, teas, seasonal drinks, beer, wine, and cocktails. He is currently serving spiced or spiked apple cider, noro mulled miel, and Aztec hot chocolate.

The restaurant is open for small bites (eat-in or carry-out) from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; breakfast from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and brunch on Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

It is closed Monday and Tuesday.
