Campbell County Public Library offers activities for adults, children at all branches in December


The Campbell County Public Library operates four branches.

The Cold Spring Branch is located at 3920 Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring, phone 859-781-6166. The Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch is located at 1000 Highland Ave. in Fort Thomas, phone 859-572-5033. The Newport Branch is located at 901 E. Sixth St. in Newport, phone 859-572-5035. The Alexandria Branch is located at 8830 Alexandria Pike in Alexandria, phone 859-572-7463.

There are two Express locations for pickups and returns in Silver Grove and Melbourne.

Hours for Cold Spring, Carrico/Fort Thomas and Newport branches are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Hours for Alexandria are 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; and closed Sunday and Monday. For more information, click here.

The Library will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, Dec. 24-25.

To celebrate the holiday season, the Children’s Department will have a craft room devoted to making crafts that celebrate different winter holidays from around the world. Caregivers and grownups, please remember to bring your own cameras for Santa’s visit! We will begin distributing numbered tickets at 11:30 am to hold places in the line to see Santa. The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati presents Reindeer Games

The Newport Library is excited to present The Children’s Theatre’s production of Reindeer Games as TCT on Tour takes on the holidays – game-show style. Join in all the Reindeer Games with Santa’s four-hoofed sleigh team as both hosts and contestants.
This TCT world premiere, written by Kenneth Jones, has plenty of audience participation, laughs, good cheer and celebration. ASL interpreters will be interpreting the show for our friends in the Deaf community. Families. No need to register.

Sensory Science Story Time

Children of all ages are invited to use all of their senses to explore stories, songs and hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) activities. We will begin with a short story time that integrates movement and song and end with hands-on STEAM exploration.

We are going to be working with Shari the Bag Lady to help make plarn. “Plarn” is a word created to describe plastic yarn, made out of recycled bags, which you use to make waterproof items. We will learn about how to reuse plastic bags to make sleeping mats for the homeless in our community. Grades 1-5. Registration required.
