Fort Mitchell resident and Beechwood 2013 graduate Brandt Coleman has been awarded two major international scholarships.
Coleman was accepted into the Master of Science Global Change Ecology program at the Universität Bayreuth in southern Germany. He has also been nominated by his universität and admitted into the Elite Universität Network of Bavaria which is sponsored by the Bavarian State Ministry of Sciences, Research and the Arts.

The network consists of Elite Graduate Programmes, the Max Weber Programme for the Highly Gifted, International Doctorate Programme, and international research scholarships for graduate students.
The Bavarian state is the first in Germany to “offer a special awards scheme for exceptionally talented students where outstanding academic achievement is actively promoted and rewarded.”
After being scored successfully on his written application, Coleman was granted an interview and was subsequently offered a placement in the two-year Master of Science program in Bayreuth Germany. The program accepts a total of no more than 25 students a year.
The Global Change Ecology Elite study program combines the expertise of the Universities of Bayreuth, Augsburg and Würzburg, with that of Bavarian and international research institutions, as well as economic, administrative and international organizations. By accepting this offer of admission, Brandt will have all his Master’s Degree costs covered by the university and the German government.
Coleman was also just notified he has been selected by Golden Key International Honour Society as recipient of the 2018 Graduate Scholar Award. The award consists of a $10,000 scholarship and is based on past academic success and future academic and career goals, as well as how the student can truly create change in the future.
Brandt is a 2018 Summa Cum Laude and University Honors Scholar graduate of the University of Louisville with degrees in environmental analysis, marine biology (New College of Florida in Sarasota) and environmental anthropology. He is a 2013 graduate of Beechwood Independent and previously spent a year in Germany on a U.S. State Department fellowship.
