The Boone County Sheriff’s office has provided details on the accident that closed KY 212 (Airport Access Road) overnight.

A driver of one of the vehicles, George Moore, of Cincinnati, was transported to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver and passengers in the other vehicle suffered minor, or non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was shut down for approximately three hours.

The Boone County Sheriff’s office issued the following release regarding the incident:

On Friday, November 16, 2018, at approximately 3:41 a.m. a two vehicle traffic collision on KY 212 (Airport Access Road) at the I-275 eastbound ramp interchange sent one driver to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries and the other driver and occupants to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

A 2009 Chrysler Town & Country, operated by Ariel Pereyra, 21, of Passaic, New Jersey, was traveling southbound on Airport Access Road (KY 212) towards the airport.

A 2017 Freightliner tractor trailer, operated by George Moore, 64, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was traveling on the eastbound exit ramp from I-275 to Airport Access Road.

According to witnesses Pereyra’s vehicle entered the intersection against a red light and struck Moore’s vehicle as he was attempting a left turn onto northbound Airport Access Road while on a green light. The impact forced the tractor trailer (Moore’s vehicle) across all southbound lanes and into the grass median, blocking all southbound lanes of travel.

Pereyra’s vehicle post impact rotated and was blocking all southbound lanes of travel as well. The entire roadway was immediately shut down, and all vehicles heading to CVG were redirected onto eastbound I-275 to Mineola Pike.

Moore was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio with suspected life-threatening injuries. Pereyra was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Florence for minor injuries.

The right front passenger in Pereyra’s vehicle, Bladimir Marte, 21, of Passaic, New Jersey, was also transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Florence for minor injuries. The right rear passenger in Pereyra’s vehicle, Frank Boglev, 36, of Passaic, New Jersey, was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio with non-life threatening injuries. Hebron Fire/EMS and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport Fire/EMS units assisted with all transports to the local hospitals.

Moore was operating a commercial vehicle for A-One Pallet Distributing Company of Florence, KY.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision. It is unknown at this time if speed was a factor, however, drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor. No charges have been filed at this time, and Pereyra and his passengers are cooperating with the investigation.

Any witnesses are asked to contact Lt. Chris Hall of the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit at 859-334-2187.

Next of kin have been notified. The roadway remained closed during the entire incident, however, reopened to traffic at approximately 6:41 a.m.
