Northern Kentucky Health Department offers free diabetes education class in Florence

Diabetes educators from the Northern Kentucky Health Department (NKY Health) will offer a free class to provide practical tips on how individuals can better control their diabetes.

This comprehensive education session, “Healthy Living with Diabetes,” will take place on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the NKY Health district office (8001 Veterans Memorial Drive, Florence) and is available to anyone who has been diagnosed with diabetes or supports a person with diabetes.

Each participant will receive a diabetes toolkit that covers topics including what is diabetes, healthy eating, medications and more. Since NKY Health’s diabetes program is accredited through the Kentucky Department for Public Health’s Healthy Living with Diabetes program, participants will receive the latest and greatest diabetes information.

Lunch will be provided during the session. Registration is required by Wednesday, Dec. 12. For questions or to register, please call Julie Shapero at 859-363-2116.

In addition to the all-day class, NKY Health also offers free, recurring diabetes support groups in Kenton, Campbell and Boone counties.
