Though most Northern Kentucky schools weren’t in session last Friday, the learning didn’t stop. Many students learned career opportunities in manufacturing during the Balluff open house.
Balluff, a global leader in sensor technology, opened its doors to the community to educate the next generation on 21st-century, modern manufacturing opportunities and inspire and recruit them to become the next generation of manufacturers.
The open house, one of many MFG Day events held across the country.
The event included hands-on activities used to demonstrate how sensors and automation work, a tour of the Balluff manufacturing facilities and visits with local colleges who provided information on their STEM programs.
”We want to help share the wonders of advanced manufacturing technologies and educate students on the career opportunities available in the manufacturing market,” said Balluff President and CEO Tony Canonaco.
“We hope everyone who attended walked away with a better understanding of how important manufacturing is for the people of the U.S. and especially for our home state of Kentucky.”
Today’s manufacturing facilities offer clean, specialist, technology-heavy working environments that provide good pay and ample career opportunities — more than 2 million manufacturing positions are expected to go unfilled in the next decade due to unskilled workforce.
Factories aren’t only seeking laborers (although those are also needed), but have opportunities for a variety of STEM careers including engineers, welders, electricians, computer science technicians.
