His years in the department have allowed him to gain a wide range of valuable experience. Chief Knoll has worked on initiatives locally, regionally and nationally.

“The City of Florence is fortunate we have officers within our ranks who can continue to lead our Fire/EMS Department,” Whalen said. “The City has done a great job of providing the department with opportunities, education, and the hands-on experience needed to mentor new leaders. I am confident Scott can step in and continue to build the reputation of the Florence Fire/EMS Department as one of the best in the state.”

Chief Knoll is a native of Cincinnati and a graduate of Elder High School. He has attended University of Cincinnati and the National Fire Academy. He started his fire service career in Delhi Township.

“I am very thankful for this opportunity. I feel extremely fortunate to inherit a department with such high professional standards,” Knoll said. “Our department has a dedicated staff who strives to be the best in the region. We have worked hard to build our department to meet the needs of our growing community and will continue to do so in the future.”

Knoll and his wife, Rebecca have 3 children.

“No Shave November” at Florence Police Department will benefit Children’s Hospital

The Florence Police Department is gearing up to launch a “No Shave November” campaign to benefit Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Cancer Unit.

Each participating officer from the Department can donate to the effort and take a break from the razor, growing a neatly trimmed beard during the month of November.

The Department is also asking the community for support to help reach its fundraising goal of $500. All donations will go directly to cancer research and treatment in the Greater Cincinnati Area.

At the end of the month, The Florence Police Department will present a check to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and post a picture of all of the hairy heroes.
