Kentucky AG’s Medicaid Fraud Director Rudovich elected to national association executive committee

Attorney General Andy Beshear has announced that his Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Director has been elected to a national associations’ executive committee that represents regions and states in recovering stolen money, punishing corrupt practitioners and prosecuting those who abuse or neglect nursing home residents.

Michelle Rudovich, of Louisville, was recently elected the Midwestern representative for the National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Units or NAMFCU. As a regional representative, Rudovich sits on the executive committee that manages the association.

“Michelle’s selection and seat on the national executive committee will further strengthen our office’s mission to ensure the financial integrity of the state and federal Medicaid programs and to seek justice for seniors who have been physically abused,” Beshear said. “She will represent the Commonwealth and this region well in better protecting seniors and returning recoveries of state and federal Medicaid funds.”

Beshear’s Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse recently investigated and prosecuted along with several federal agencies a Breathitt County ambulance company owner and two employees on health care fraud and secured an indictment of a 44-year-old Indiana medical laboratory owner on two felony counts involving theft.

As Midwestern representative of NAMFCU, Rudovich will represent Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Since taking office, efforts by Beshear’s Office of Medicaid Fraud and Abuse, through civil settlements and criminal restitution, have resulted in over $74 million in obligations to state and federal Medicaid programs, Medicare, Tricare, commercial payers and other entities.

The Office of the Attorney General’s tip line for reporting allegations of Medicaid fraud is 877-228-7384.
