Friends of Covington to present Beautification Awards honoring 18 property owners on Thursday

The Friends of Covington, an organization that has been promoting Covington and all of its strengths since 1987, will honor 18 property owners Thursday, Oct. 18, with the 2018 Covington Beautification Awards.

Each of the winners is located in one of the 19 neighborhoods that were toured this year by a five-person committee made up of board members of the organization.

“We had more than 50 homes and businesses nominated this year by people who contacted us by mail, e-mail or through our website or Facebook page so we were faced, in some neighborhoods, with some tough decisions,” said John Niland, president of the Friends of Covington and a resident of the MainStrasse neighborhood.

“Based on everything that I’ve seen from the committee, good choices were made and the winners – as well as many of the nominees – are worthy of recognition for all that they have done to make Covington a better place to live, work or play,” Niland said.

This is the 27th year that the Friends of Covington has recognized property owners who have gone above and beyond to make their homes or business locations as attractive as they can be, an effort that helps make Covington a city in which residents can take pride.

The awards ceremony will be held again this year at the Behringer-Crawford Museum in Devou Park. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a reception and the awards presentation will begin at about 6:15 p.m.

Further information is available on the organization’s website or on its Facebook page.
