It may be hard to believe, but the holidays are almost here. Among those already busy with preparations is Chef Lori Pierce (Lula), who advertises for the demanding time with the slogan, “We are excited to party with you this season, but book soon! Lula only has two hands!”

The busy chef has been catering to the Greater Cincinnati area for more than 25 years now, building herself an award-winning resume.

Chef Lori has called Cincinnati home since moving here in 1982 to attend the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music on a piano performance scholarship. She believes her degree in music and love for the creative arts, as well as world travel, has led to her continued success in the kitchen.

Through her catering business, Lula’s for Lunch…and More, Chef Lori delights palates with her unique, boutique creations, inspired by both her Southern roots and her love of global gastronomy.

Chef Lori’s contribution to recipe development for companies such as Kraft, Nestle, Unilever, and McCormick — to name a few — as well as the consistent honing of her skills through training with exalted chefs such as Jean-Marc Larrue, keeps her on the cutting edge of contemporary cuisine, while always employing a classical approach.

Master Classes in Costa Rica, Mexico and throughout Europe have inspired Chef Lori to create unique fusion dishes to excite and stimulate both the mouth and the mind.
Lula’s was the first caterer in the region to recognize the need and desire for farm to table practices and to utilize such methods.

Chef Lori believes in “Scratch, Local, and Seasonal” preparation that comes from sustainable supplies. She goes the extra mile, making sure everything — even her breads, condiments, and sauces — is homemade.

An omnivore, she eats and serves protein that has lived a good life.  Most of the veggies, herbs, eggs, and beef that she serves come from either her own backyard, her father-in-law’s farm, or other local purveyors.

But the first ingredient in EVERY dish is always love. This is a primary reason Lula’s was chosen to prepare a meal for the White House Staff in 2012.

A firm believer in giving back, the presence of Lula’s for Lunch…and More can be seen and felt throughout the region — a practice for which Chef Lori was recognized by the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce in 2013.

In addition to catering for all sorts of special, intimate events, such as weddings, showers, corporate lunches, board meetings, office parties, cocktail receptions, birthdays, golf outings, family celebrations, and much more — including, of course, holiday parties — Chef Lori also offers custom culinary classes. She’s even instructed the national chain restaurant Texas Roadhouse in steak preparation! Chef Lori also publishes kitchen tips and tidbits in her weekly blog.
