Charities Guild’s Happy Feet Ball raises money for shoes for the children of Northern Kentucky

Pull out your best cocktail attire, brush up on your Charleston and join the Charities Guild of Northern Kentucky on Friday, October 12 at the Metropolitan Club for a 1920’s themed evening of glitz, glamor – complete with a live orchestra – all to benefit the children of Northern Kentucky!

The Charities Guild of Northern Kentucky (CGNK), “provides shoes to children in need as identified by teachers and resource officers at the beginning of the school year,” explains Sarah Cameron, Chair of CGNK. “A lot of the children we serve walk to school, so having good fitting and well-conditioned footwear is important for their health and safety, as well as their ability to focus on learning in the classroom.”

The Happy Feet Ball is the Guild’s primary fundraiser for its Shoe Fund that has provided shoes to underprivileged children for over 25 years.

The Guild partners with area schools, churches and social service agencies to identify students in need, and then distributes a voucher for a new pair of shoes that schools can redeem. The students “shop” for his or her own pair of shoes with the aid of the school resource officer, a source of pride and a learning experience.

“The feedback we get from this program is overwhelming,” says Marci Schroder, Co-Chair of the Shoe Fund. “We are told that when children arrive at school with shoes in good condition, they are better able to focus on learning and have more confidence. With so many students walking to school in our area, it is hard to imagine the pain of ill-fitting shoes or shoes that are falling apart.”

The Happy Feet Ball theme is the “Gatsby Gala” complete with a 1920s theme and live music from the nationally-renowned Tom Daugherty Orchestra. There will be a silent auction, live raffles, and games along with an open bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres from 8 pm to midnight. Tickets can be purchased online at charitiesguildnky.com.

Sponsorships ranging from $1000 to $350 are still available and support from the community is appreciated.

CGNK is a volunteer-based non-profit organization. Through fundraising and outreach, we focus on improving the lives of children and families in the Northern Kentucky area. Each year we host one event as the primary fundraiser for our organization. The funds generated by the event support the CGNK Shoe Fund.
