An expert and author on treatment for the mentally ill will speak at an event October 8 sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Northern Kentucky.
DJ Jaffe is Executive Director of the non-partisan Mental Illness Policy Org. and author of Insane Consequences: How the Mental Health Industry Fails the Mentally Ill.
Jaffe has been advocating for better treatment for individuals with serious mental illness for over 30 years and has written op-eds on the intersection of mental health and criminal justice policy for the New York Times, Wall St. Journal and the Washington Post.
He is credited as being the driving force behind the passage of New York’s Kendra’s Law and Congress incorporated ideas proposed by Jaffe in the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act.
The event will be held at the Lincoln Grant Scholar House in Covington on Monday evening, October 8th at 7 p.m.
A book-signing will follow and his book will be available for purchase.
Jaffe will also be keynote speaker for the 2018 KY CIT State Conference being held in Erlanger at SETEC on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 8th and 9th.
