The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) announces construction is scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 17, on a $830,308 project that will add a left lane on US 25 into the Mubea, Inc. complex in Florence.
“This project will add a two-way left turn lane on US 25 at Mubea improving the traffic flow and safety in this congested area,” said Bob Yeager, chief district engineer for KYTC District 6.
Beginning the week of Sept. 17, traffic will be restricted so that crews can widen the 0.37 mile area. Two lanes will be maintained throughout the majority of the construction project; but there will be times when flaggers are present. Motorists should be alert when driving through the work zone. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 MPH in the work zone.
The new two-way left-turn lane on US 25 will be open by December 2018.
Len Riegler Blacktop, Inc., of Florence, was awarded the contract.
All work is scheduled on a tentative basis and is subject to change depending on weather conditions, emergencies and other factors beyond the control of the Department of Highways. Motorists should be mindful of lane closures and traffic control in the work zone.
