The Center for Great Neighborhoods offering free professional assistance at problem-solving day

The Center for Great Neighborhoods, the Taxpayer Advocate Service, and United Way of Greater Cincinnati will provide a day of free professional assistance to help community members with financial concerns, tax issues, credit recovery, savings plans, good food and more.

Tax season has passed, but thousands of people may still need assistance with a tax problem. The Taxpayer Advocate will be available to help with tax problems they have not been able to resolve with the IRS. The Center’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic attorneys will also be available to help with longer term issues. Volunteer preparers will be available to help you file a tax return for prior years.

Many people have questions about the new federal and Kentucky tax laws.

“We want people to be prepared,” said Mary Lepper, an attorney at The Center for Great Neighborhoods. “The IRS estimates that up to 30 million people in the U.S. will have insufficient taxes withheld this year. Let us help you be prepared to adjust your withholding.”

Information sessions will help those in attendance learn how to access and understand your credit report, learn how to improve your credit score, how to create a spending and savings plan to buy your first home or pay off credit cards, bank loans and more.
