Rascals complete three-game sweep of Freedom with 9-0 victory on Sunday night in season finale

Braxton Martinez went 2-for-5 with three runs batted in Sunday night as the River City Rascals completed a three-game sweep of the Florence Freedom with a 9-0 victory at CarShield Field.

Mike Jurgella collected a pair of hits and scored three times for the Rascals, while Trevor Achenbach went 2-for-5 and scored two runs. River City starting pitcher Dan Ludwig allowed just two hits in seven innings and picked up the win.

Leading 3-0 going into the bottom of the seventh, River City scored four times to extend its advantage to 7-0. The Rascals added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth and cruised to the victory.

Austin Wobrock went 2-for-4 to lead the Florence offense. Freedom starter Steve Hagen worked six innings and allowed three runs.

River City had clinched a playoff spot the previous night with a 4-1 win over Florence.

The Freedom concluded the season with a 49-47 record. Keivan Berges led the team with 18 homers, 65 RBI and 51 runs scored. Skyler Ewing finished the season with 16 homers and 51 RBI, while Caleb Lopes collected a team-leading 19 doubles this summer.
