NKU’s Research and Education Field Station hosting Nature Adventure Day Sept. 29; families welcome

Northern Kentucky University’s Research and Education Field Station (REFS) will host its annual Nature Adventure Day on September 29 at 1 p.m.

The field station is at 99 Harrison Court, Melbourne.

REFS invites the community to spend the afternoon hiking through the St. Anne Wetlands.

There will be nature activities like identifying animal tracks, understanding what lives in a pond and turtle races.

Students will also have their research on display.

Nature Adventure Day is part of the international “Take Your Child Outside” program designed to encourage children and adults to spend time together outdoors.

REFS facility provides an operations base for a wide range of field research and is located adjacent to and facilitates the use of 155 acres of St. Anne Woods and Wetlands Natural Area, a conservation easement on and near the Ohio River.

The REFS opened in the Spring of 2017. For more information about REFS, click here.
