Through donations from Colonels in Kentucky and around the world, the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels (HOKC) will award grants totaling $2-million to support more than 230 charities throughout the Commonwealth.
HOKC Executive Director Sherry Crose said the $2 million mark is a record for the KY Colonel’s annual grant program. More than 3-million Kentuckians will be aided through the combined impact of the non-profit organizations receiving these grants.
“We are also closing in on the $50-million mark since the Colonels became a non- profit organization in 1951,” Crose said. “To date, HOKC grants will have touched more than 7,000 other non-profit organizations. We are proud that donations range from $1 to major gifts supporting our focus on aiding the abused to the handicapped to crisis relief to historic preservation.”
Regional grant announcement celebrations of the non-profit grant recipients will begin on September 21, in Morehead. The grant recipient announcement for Northern Kentucky will take place Tuesday, September 25 at 3 p.m. at the Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky in Devou Park.
HOKC Commanding General Lynn Ashton adds: “Being a Kentucky Colonel is more than just hanging a certificate on your wall. We are an active group of compassionate people who care about people.”
HOKC is a 501(c)(3) supporting Kentucky charities and worthy organizations through its Good Works Program. Donations are given by Colonels appointed by the Governor. For more information click here.
