Kenton Commonwealth’s Attorney commissions photos of all local K9 officers and their handlers

In honor of Service Dog Appreciation Month, the Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney Office commissioned a professional photographer to take portraits of all local K9 officers and their handlers.

Sixteen K9 teams from Kenton, Boone, and Campbell counties participated.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders, who has long been an avid supporter of police K9’s, said, “This is the least we can do to show our support and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our K9 teams.”

Sanders says few people realize just how much training it takes for the K9 teams to achieve and maintain certification.

“A K9 officer serves about seven to ten years before being retired,” said Sanders, “But the time flies and retirements have a way of sneaking up on everyone, so we want to make sure their service is documented and preserved for the rest of time.”

Keep an eye out for the complete set of K9 portraits. Pictured above is a “sneak peek” of what to expect from Kenton County Police Officer Jason Deacon and K9 Loki.

The Commonwealth Attorney thanks Katie Woodring Photography LLC for participating in this event.
