Briefs: Fightmaster joins Heritage Bank, Governor’s appointments, Hegge to CLC, DJ Jaffe to talk


Cathy Fightmaster joins Heritage Bank

Heritage Bank has named Cathy Fightmaster as a mortgage loan officer for their Union branch. Fightmaster has over 20 years of mortgage banking experience in the Greater Cincinnati area and joins Heritage after serving in the same position with BB&T in Florence.

A Louisville native, Ms. Fightmaster has lived in Northern Kentucky for the last 17 years and lives in Erlanger. Outside of the office, she’s an avid gardener who enjoys cooking and reading.

Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments:

To the Consumers’ Advisory Council

William E. St. Pierre, of Villa Hills, is a small business owner. He will serve for a term expiring Sept. 8, 2019;

To the State Board of Medical Licensure 

Kristin Ann Turner, of Alexandria, is an attorney. She will represent citizens-at-large and serve for a term expiring Aug. 31, 2022. 

To the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services
 
Philip Russell Dietz, of Ft. Mitchell, appointed to the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services. He is the EMS director for the Independence Fire District. He will represent fire-based licensed Class 1 ground ambulance service administrators and serve for a term expiring Sept. 19, 2022. 

Steve Hegge join Children’s Law Center

Steve Hegge has been named development director of Children’s Law Center, taking over for John Vissman, who has been the development director at CLC for the past 6 years. Vissman is retiring on September 27.

Hegge has over 20 years of experience in the local nonprofit arena and has raised funds for United Way, Campbell Lodge Boys’ Home, the Cincinnati Art Museum, and the University of Cincinnati. He has a B.A. in English from Western Kentucky University and an M.A. in English from Idaho State University. Hegge will oversee all fundraising and development activities at CLC and will coordinate special events.

DJ Jaffe at Lincoln Grant Scholar House

DJ Jaffe, executive director of the non-partisan Mental Illness Policy Org., is author of Insane Consequences: How the Mental Health Industry Fails the Mentally Ill. He has been advocating for better treatment for individuals with serious mental illness for over 30 years and has written op-eds on the intersection of mental health and criminal justice policy for the New York Times, Wall St. Journal and the Washington Post.

He is credited as being the driving force behind the passage of New York’s Kendra’s Law and Congress incorporated ideas proposed by DJ in the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act.”

He is talking at the Lincoln Grant Scholar House in Covington, KY, on Monday evening, October 8th at 7 p.m. Book-signing to follow and his book will be available for purchase.

He is also keynote speaker for the 2018 KY CIT State Conference being held in Erlanger at SETEC on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 8th and 9th.
