Discover Pipa: A Chinese Stringed Instrument

Hong Shao of Nicholasville is master of the pipa, a Chinese stringed instrument that has been around for at least two thousand years. Hong and her apprentice Leah Werking of Paris, Kentucky will perform and discuss the intricate techniques of playing this instru¬ment as well as the stories and culture surrounding its characteristic sound.

Serving the Law: The People Behind Boone County’s Government

Award-winning author and historian, Judge Tony Frohlich, will discuss his latest book, Serving the Law, which provides a history of Boone County government from its inception to the present time. A companion piece to A Kentucky Court, this comprehensive and well-researched book contains 271 biographies of sheriffs, jailers, state representatives and Boone County Police. A book signing will follow.

Friends of Big Bone: Lewis and Clark – The Journey of the Corps of Discovery
