Artist Lori Seibert creates an art workshop for residents of Covington’s Rosedale Green

Local artist Lori Siebert led Rosedale Green Nursing Home residents and staff in a free Art Workshop this week.

Seibert’s own mother resides at Rosedale Green in a household dedicated to Memory Support.

As a licensed artist, designer, product developer and business owner, Seibert developed her workshop from a desire to provide Rosedale with an art project that celebrates the individual, as well as showing the interdependence of its community members.

Siebert, a resident of Covington, titled the endeavor “Together We Celebrate Love and Life.”

Residents and staff created canvases that represent the synergetic relationship between the caregiver and those receiving care. The finished pieces will be displayed at the newly renovated Rosedale, which has transformed from a traditional “clinical” looking nursing home into a “household” model.

Residents flourish in an environment based on normalcy, rather than institutionalization.

Siebert will return to Rosedale Green, 4250 Glenn Avenue, on Thursday, August 23, 6-8:30 p.m. to lead HeArtful Escape, a Wine & Canvas creative workshop, open to the general public. This event will be a mini-version of Siebert’s HeArtful Escape art retreats and proceeds will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. Call Julie Price at (859) 279-9099 for more information.
