Swimmer Hunter Eudy of Independence brings home two bronze medals from Special Olympics USA Games


Swimmer Hunter Eudy of Independence closed out the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle, Wash., in style, claiming his first individual medal of the Games and setting a new personal record in the process.

Eudy swam the 50-meter backstroke in :44.48, and he out-touched fourth-place finisher Stephen Espinoza of Southern California by just three-hundredths of a second.

Eudy’s Kentucky teammate and friend Justin Hale of Louisville won the silver medal. Wisconsin’s Seth Rehrauer took gold.
 
Eudy finishes the USA Games with a pair of bronze medals having won a bronze and in the 4×50-meter medley relay, a fifth-place finish in the 30-meter freestyle and a fifth in the 100-meter freestyle.

The 45 athletes and 18 coaches of Tem Kentucky USA returned from the Special Olympics USA Games on Saturday from Seattle.

Team Kentucky won 51 medals, including 19 gold medals.
