Bellevue enters into agreement with Campbell County P&Z to perform administrative functions

The City of Bellevue has entered into an agreement with Campbell County to perform Planning & Zoning Administration functions on behalf of the City.

The agreement went into effect on June 4.

Campbell County Planning and Zoning Department will now perform functions including applications for building and zoning permits, map and text amendments, development plan review, sign, fence, and other accessory use reviews formerly. Due to this agreement residents will continue to receive quality review of applications and service while there will be changes in the process some have become familiar with.

WHAT HAS CHANGED

CAMPBELL COUNTY PLANNING AND ZONING WILL HANDLE:

  1. They will serve as the initial intake for Building and Zoning functions for permit requests and applications including building, sign, fence, electric, HVAC, and demo.
  2. Zoning Map Amendments, Text Amendments, Variance Review and all matters pertaining to the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Bellevue.
  3. Please use the Campbell County main contact number listed below for inquiries relating to the Zoning Ordinance.

WHAT DOESN’T CHANGE

CITY OF BELLEVUE WILL CONTINUE HANDLING:

  1. The local Planning and Zoning Commission to review zoning text, map amendments, participate in the development of the City’s comprehensive plan, and review development plans.
  2. The local Board of Adjustments to hear Zoning Variance, Conditional Uses, and Changes in Nonconforming Use requests.
  3. Most Residential Building Inspections.
  4. Historic Preservation review and activities.
  5. Special Permit and Grant requests including: Disabled Parking Spot Applications, Rental Conversion Grants and Off-street Parking Grant requests.

The City is asking residents and business owners to be patient as it makes the transition over the next few weeks.

By contracting with the County, the City will continue to provide excellent permit and zoning review work while reducing the overall budget impact on the City.
