The Kenton County Public Library, the City of Erlanger, and Kenton County Parks & Recreation invite guests to the great outdoors for a hike at Doe Run Lake May 19, from 9 a.m. to 12 pm.

Star gaze at Lincoln Ridge include presentation from guest lecturer

Also May 19, Kenton County Parks & Recreation, the Cincinnati Observatory Center, and the Midwestern Astronomers are hosting a free Star Gaze.

All are welcome.

The event will begin at 8 p.m. in the Kenton County Public Works Administration building at Lincoln Ridge Park.

The Cosmos sometimes reminds us that space isn’t just “out there”. We are all taking a free ride on this small planet and we are all astronauts, though we rarely think about it.

Join Cincinnati Observatory Center guest lecturer, Jeff Hutton, as he presents “Comets and Meteors” for a trip on a comet as it leaves deep space for a trip near earth. On the way we will learn about the structure of comets, asteroids and meteors and the kinds of threats that they occasionally pose to your fellow travelers on spaceship Earth.

The indoor portion of the program will begin at 8:00 P.M. and will last about an hour. The outdoor portion of the program (weather permitting) will begin immediately following the indoor program.

Volunteers from Friends of the Observatory Center and the Midwestern Astronomers will provide telescopes and expertise in the field, describe observations, answer questions, and help open our eyes to the wonder of the universe. Who knows what the night sky will reveal? We welcome you to bring your telescope and binoculars.

Discover another world of wonder. Lincoln Ridge Park is located at 420 Independence Station Rd., Independence.
