Do you cycle? Try DevouCycle, a new bike rental service kicking off at Devou Park on May 31

This summer, there is a new way to explore Devou Park thanks to the Devou Good Project and the City of Covington.

Starting Thursday, May 31, park goers can rent a wide variety of bikes from DevouCycle and take advantage of the 11.5 miles of trails in the park as well as other attractions in the surrounding area.

DevouCycle is kicking off the new service with a ribbon cutting and celebratory bike ride on Thursday, May 31 from 4-7 p.m.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks will be available for $1 each, and the first 200 attendees will receive a free DevouCycle water bottle. Remarks will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will be immediately followed by the bike ride. After the ride, celebration attendees can try out the different bikes for free with an ID and credit card but are encouraged to bring their own bikes to join in the fun.

“We’re so excited to kick off this new service in Devou Park to make it easier to take advantage of all the hidden gems it holds,” said Matt Butler, chair of special projects of the Devou Good Project.

“The park is home to amenities such as the bike trails, the Behringer-Crawford Museum, the spectacular overlook of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, and so much more. Offering adaptive bike rentals also means that community members of all ages and abilities can enjoy the park from a new perspective while getting fresh air and exercise.”

The bike rental service is based out of the Devou Golf and Event Center and will offer a variety of bikes for adults and children including road bikes and mountain bikes. For those interested in trying something new, the service will have electric bikes, recumbent bikes, tandem bikes, and adaptive hand cycles. Renters with small children unable to ride on their own can rent Dutch bikes, trailers, children’s seats, and balance bikes.

All bikes can be used in the park and beyond.

“This is a fabulous program,” said Rosie Santos, Covington Parks and Recreation Manager. “Devou Park is one of the treasures that makes Covington unique – this regional park is not only an immense green space but also an outdoor adventure hub filled with activities and programs that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and families of all sizes.”

Rentals will be available for one hour, three hours, or all day, and range in price from $6-$50. All Covington residents will receive 50% off rentals with valid ID. All rentals include helmet and optional lock.

Bike reservations can be made over the phone by calling (859) 431-8030 or by emailing info@devoucycle.com.

This new rental service was made possible by The Devou Good Project and the City of Covington. More information is available online at www.devoucycle.com.
