Women in Computing Conference to be held Feb. 9-10 in Cincy, includes career fair; NKU is a sponsor


The ACM Tri-State Women in Computing Conference (TRIWiC) 2018 is the 4th regional celebration of women in computing conference. ACM celebrations of women in computing are organized locally to connect technical women and build community. TRIWiC 2018 takes place on Feb. 9-10 at the Kingsgate Marriott Conference Center in Cincinnati.

Northern Kentucky University’s College of Informatics is a sponsor of the event.
 

Liza Mundy


New York Times bestselling author Liza Mundy will be the featured speaker at TRIWiC. Mundy was a long-time reporter at the Washington Post and has contributed to numerous publications including The Atlantic, TIME, The New Republic, Slate, Mother Jones, and Politico. She is a frequent commentator on prominent national television shows, radio, and online news outlets. A senior fellow at New America, Mundy is one of the nation’s foremost experts on women and work issues.
 
Other keynote speakers include Wendy Lea, CEO of Cintrifuse, a public private partnership designed to build a tech-based economy in the Greater Cincinnati Region, and Qi Han, an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at the Colorado School of Mines. Han founded and directs the Pervasive Computing Systems (PeCS) research group. 

Workshops and panels on finding your first job, writing resumes and attending graduate school are also part of the weekend celebration.  TRIWiC concludes with a college and career fair from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and all are welcome to the job fair.
