NKY Health to open new district office in Florence, Feb. 19; open house scheduled for March

Staff from the Northern Kentucky Health Department providing district-wide services are moving to Florence this month.

The newly constructed 40,000-plus square foot building, located at 8001 Veterans Memorial Drive, will open for business on Monday, Feb. 19.

Ninety-two employees from offices in Edgewood, Fort Mitchell, Covington and Florence will be based out of the new building. Program areas to be located at the new facility include:

  • Office of the District Director of Health, including Human Resources, Health Planning and Public Information
  • Administration and Accounting
  • WIC and Nutrition Administration
  • Health Promotion
  • Oral Health
  • HIV/AIDS Case Management
  • Epidemiology
  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Environmental Health

“We are excited to be able to serve the residents of Northern Kentucky from this new facility,” said Lynne M. Saddler, MD, MPH, District Director of Health. “More and more, the public health work that we do requires staff from different disciplines and community partners to work together. The new building is designed to foster collaboration, while at the same time, increase efficiency and reduce costs due to travel and offsite storage. It is designed for future growth as well.”

Members of the community are invited to an open house at the Florence location from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14.

The two-story facility is located on the campus of the Florence Government Center. It includes offices, meeting rooms and training space and was constructed by Paul Hemmer Company at a cost of approximately $6.1 million. Funding for the project came from the Health Department’s cash reserves and the sale of existing buildings, and there will be no debt service on the building.

The Health Department’s county health centers, located in Florence, Newport, Williamstown and Covington, will not move. After the move is completed this month, the Health Department will no longer operate out of its facilities at 610 Medical Village Drive in Edgewood, Ky., and 2388 Grandview Drive in Fort Mitchell, Ky. Those properties have been sold.

The Health Department also provides space for state plumbing inspectors. They will remain at the Edgewood facility until Feb. 23, at which time they will move to the lower level of the Boone County Health Center, 7505 Burlington Pike, Florence, Ky.

The Health Department’s main phone number, 859-341-4264, will not change, and staff phone numbers and emails will remain the same.
