Carnegie’s ArtStop Artist workshops open to children 7-12 start on Saturday, Nov. 4 for eight weeks

Calling all young artists! The Carnegie has opened registration for its winter ArtStop Artist Series workshops. Taught by local teaching artists, and open to children ages 7-12, the workshops will focus on the spooky, the monstrous, and the wild, while teaching visual art and acting skills.

While the classes have traditionally taken place after school, new this year, the workshops will take place on Saturdays. Running in eight week sessions, November 4 – January 13, 2018, the workshops will take place in The Carnegie’s Eva G. Farris Education Center from 9:30 – 1 p.m.

Coinciding with the ArtStop Artist Series workshops, parents can also take advantage of The Carnegie’s new community health initiative – Yoga in The Gallery. The free yoga classes will run from 12 -1p.m. in The Carnegie’s Ohio National Financial Services Main Gallery and are open to all experience levels.

Workshops being offered during the winter session include:

Mystery at The Carnegie
9:30-10:30am

Class Fee: $30 per 8 week session

Felt Monsters
10:45-11:45am
Felt, hot glue, hand-stitching, buttons, sequins, Velcro, ribbon, and more. What will you use to make your one-of-a-kind felt creation? In this class, students will design and craft their own silly, scary, cute or funny stuffed monsters.
Class Fee: $30 per 8 week session

Costume Puppets
12-1pm
Cats, dinosaurs, flying monkeys, and more. What will fill your imaginary menagerie of clay creatures? Students will practice creating real or make-believe animals out of clay, using slab, pinch pot, and hand-building techniques.
Class Fee: $30 per 8 week session

All ArtStop Artist Series workshops end with a culminating experience for friends and family. Participants registering for more than one workshop will receive a $10 discount. Class size is limited and registration is required.
