The Kentucky Personnel Cabinet has been awarded the prestigious 2017 Payroll Prism Award for its leadership and process improvements which will result in significant savings to the Commonwealth.
The PRISM awards are presented by the American Payroll Association (APA) to recognize payroll organizations from across the United State that demonstrate leadership, innovation, and best practices in the payroll industry.
The Personnel Cabinet was recognized for several operational improvements made in the payroll and workers compensation processes. The agency amended a workers compensation manual process involving six different agencies and more than eight hours of labor per transaction, and implemented an electronic solution that now only involves one agency and approximately one hour of labor, saving the Commonwealth more than $530,000 annually.
Prism Awards are presented to payroll organizations across the United States that have demonstrated leadership in the areas of technology, management, processes, or overall best practices. Past award recipients have included: State of Kansas; Shell Oil Company; BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC; Sensient Technologies; and Texas Roadhouse in Louisville.
“It’s an honor to be included among this list of leaders and to be recognized for the work we do to continuously improve our processes,” said Personnel Cabinet Secretary Thomas Stephens. “Our talented team is unwavering in its commitment to find better ways to serve the people who serve the people.”
The APA’s Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force presented the award today during their Fall Forum in Indianapolis. Prism Award winners will be featured in the November issue of PAYTECH Magazine, an APA publication.
