Kentucky Dragon Boat Festival coming up Sept. 9 at A.J. Jolly Park, raises money for cancer awareness

The Kentucky Thorough-Breasts are hosting the annual Kentucky Dragon Boat Festival, Paddling for the Pink, on September 9 at A.J. Jolly Park.

The event benefits PC4A — Paddling for Cancer Awareness.

Get your Dragon Boats ready!

This year’s festival will have more boats, a stream-lined registration and waiver system as well as more team awards – start thinking of those t-shirts, drummer, tent decorations and team names!

There will be food vendors, from breakfast to barbeque, drinks, etc.

There will also be merchandise vendors with great items to purchase. Educational materials will be available about cancer.

Bring 16-20 of your closest friends and be prepared to get on the water.  Boats, paddles, life jackets, steers-people and drummers will be on hand. Come share the water and be prepared for unforgettable memories.

Access to the site is available from 5–7 p.m. on Friday night.

This is a great time to set-up/decorate your tent and take a look at the course. Team Rented Tents will be set up and your Team Name will be on your tent.

It is strongly suggested that captains finalize waivers and familiarize themselves with the site. All paddlers must sign a paper waiver or electronic waiver to participate.

Teams will get wristbands when waivers have been turned in to registration and verified that either a paper waiver or electronic waiver has been executed.

On Saturday, the 10th, the park will open at 6:30. There is a drop-off area and volunteers available to assist in bringing heavy items to your tent.

Organizers will be beach-loading the boats. This means participants will get wet up to their knees at least.

Take water shoes or old sneakers.

There will be changing tents available.

Alcohol is not allowed.
