Sen. Schickel released the following message, encouraging all of those who have known Lux over the years to share in the recognition:

“We here in Union, Kentucky, are thankful for and enjoy our brand new big Kroger store.  However, at least for myself, it is taking a bit of getting used to.

I am a bit overwhelmed when I shop.  Other people tell me the same thing, but I am sure we will get used to it in due time. In a strange sort of way, we miss our smaller, more intimate store.

We especially miss our long time Union Kroger Store Manager, Jerry Lux, who retired after many years of service when the old store closed.  The community of Union will honor our beloved former store manager with a Kentucky Colonel commissioned by Gov. Matt Bevin on Monday, October 2, at 7 p.m. at the Union City Council Meeting.

All of Jerry’s many friends are invited to attend.”
